In general I used an Autel AP200 for everything relating to my Discovery. Iv'e used it on about 5 different land rovers so far and it has always been reliable and given me the information I want. It can't do the higher end functions like calibrate suspension but overall I am happy with its performance.
I can use it on other vehicles but you have to pay approx £20 per year for each manufacturer. In reality I don't need it that often so don't mind spending, however I have just tried it on the other half's Mini and it cant even decode the VIN. It can still reads and clear faults but wont do any hot functions like reset oil lights etc so that's quite frustrating.
My question is - has anyone tried a relatively good value (£300 max) OBD tool that is good for a multitude of cars that doesn't require a subscription or yearly renewal? It would be good for resetting oil lights, coding keys, winding calipers etc.
There's loads on Amazon, Icarsoft, Autel, Launch, Topdon etc but its difficult to determine which is actually any good.
Have any of you used any with good results?
Thanks

The Gap IID tool is by far the best but not to be found on Amazon for LR
The Autel MaxiAP AP200 comes in second and is considerably better than the generic code scanners otherwise available.
Once you want to cover a range of vehicles then you are really into Sun, Snap-on and the like. A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.
