I changed the clutch! Mostly last weekend but finished it today. I had to cut off the tubo support bracket stud where it attaches to the turbo because it was so corroded. Today I made an extender piece Inside female M8, outside m12. Lets hope that works! I'll monitor it and figure I can always weld on a nut and try to pull the stud later.
Also today changed aux belt, idle and tensionner and managed one rear anti-roll bar bush. I did the one I knew had gone first and no clunks on the way home
Sadly I still have some squealing at load - climbing a hill on the way home it came back. Water pump pulley was a little sloppy but I thought they never failed... Someone suggested to me this squealing could be boost-related. I never did change the short pipe for a silicone one. Maybe I should try that next weekend!

I have a similar issue, squealing when warm and more so under load. Tried taking the aux belt off but it made no difference.
You mention a short pipe could you explain further please?08 D3 TDV6 SE

The suggestion is that it is a boost leak i.e. probably a hole in one of the 3 turbo hoses. In my case I have changed the 2 big obvious ones for multi ply silicone and I've previously changed the intercooler so they should be good.
LyndallDiscovery responded to an earlier post of mine saying:
"I would bet the squeal is a boost air leak and as you up the rpms it becomes audible, search for split intercooler hose"
I had discounted this given the replacements I had made. So not withstanding an actual issue with one of the big hoses, it could be that the short hose which I understand is a PITA to change and which for that reason I never changed...
I think I need to go over the whole system

I created a NIGHTMARE!
Today I removed the last 3 of my heavily coked up glow plugs. Vibro tool etc. Much swearing and a ton of kroil and Sprayed in WD40 (surprisingly effective) and they all came out. I was going to post about being a rockstar... However....
Driving home I noticed a ton of smoke behind me and resolved to pull off at next junction. Then a warning light came on and I moved to hard shoulder and called out recovery. Diagnosed the issue while I waited. The fuel temp sensor/ bleed off assembly had sheared off for the LHS bank of cylinders. Remarkably I actually have the assemblyh to replace which has been in my car for a year because the once annual limp mode was tolerable.
So I am in Switzerland where it is highly unusual to work on your own car (you have to go to a self garage). After a huge stress with the recovery firm I got them to recover to my apartment after signing wavers about fuel pollution, fire, police etc. The recovery driver was a 1000% jobsworth and made a point about dropping my car not in my space and saying he wouldn't push it!
So I'm about to set my alarm for 3.30am to go out and do what anyone in the UK would do on their drive, because working on a car in your parking space is illegal here. What nonsense! I need to drop some coolant on the floor to get to the rear injectors. Which is a bad bad get arrested thing here. And whats worse is I am massively exposed in the spot the driver dropped me. If it was my space I could do this job over a few days and no-one would notice...
But I can't move the car or can I? I have the throttle body off, the non-fed side of the engine disconnected. Can I plug the bleed off pipe (in 2 places) and have it hold enough to move my car? I suspect the answer is "No"......
3.30am it is. Fingers crossed for no 5-0 drive by and a nosy neighbour up at that time.
Yey 13 year old cars!

So glad, I don't live anywhere like that!! It's a time honoured British pastime to get all oily and roll about on the drive.

This was my solution to move car to my own space and avoid neighbour wrath:
Screw in the broken off “T” connector for where the LHS bleed of pipes would have connected.
I found some pipe with an inside diameter the same as the Outside diameter of the bleed off pipe. This I fed I to an empty washer fluid bottle:
Replaced fuel pump fuse, and moved car with no diesel spilt. This felt like a better solution than propelling 2.7 tones on the starter motor. On the plus side because I did seriously consider the starter motor solution I fully charged my old battery which I still have in the basement so now I should be good to put this in parallel and install software updates!
