Based on what evidence?
Based on my 20 years experience in hgv repair. Since adblue came in around 2006 for some manufacturers there has been an increase in emissions related breakdowns. Adblu pumps can fail and in some circumstances these can be in excess of £1500 to replace. Adblue (Urea) also has some corrosive properties and can cause premature exhaust system corrosion. As well as the initial added cost of filling the tank with adblu every couple of thousand miles.

Agreed adblue and scr on the heavy stuff is a full time battle, but on the toy cars there are not to many issues, mainly I think as they use very little compared to the trucks, which use approx 10 percent of their diesel burn in adblue.
If buyinga a diesel car and you are near any sort of population centre you would be mad to not get a euro6 model.
Daf/Merc and Scania all a pita, Scania the best of the three so far, never thought I would say that, as I have always hated the bloody things!

I think scania held out for as long as they could. Daf were fitting adblu in 2006 to their Euro 5 motors. There’s just so much to go wrong if I had the option of 2 similar cars and one was without adblu that’s the one I would choose.

I`m just coming up to a year that I have had my D4 and have done over 11,000mls in that time. I have only had to fill the adblue tank once in all that time which cost me £16 for 20ltrs from Ebay. Still have about 5 lts left to top up with and current range says over 12,000mls left!

That's not my experience. In 43k miles I have only added Adblue once between services, and that was immediately before the last service to ensure that the JLR dealer didn't have to add their expensive Addblue.

Euro 4 in 2006, went Euro 5 in 2008
Early ones two temp sensors and one nox, E5 two temp sensors and two nox sensors, then Euro6 and way to many sensors that all take it in turns to go wrong!
We have some Dafs that are like boomerangs, so many expensive new parts, and they keep coming back for more
I think its Euro6 D or something like that now? I no longer keep up to date as stopped work at the dealer 5 years ago.

Must get around 15k miles per adblue tank on mine. When it is full, the range shows 18k miles and this tracks down more or less in line with mileage covered so pretty accurate.
Isn't the EU6 version lower road tax? I only had one problem regarding the Adblue in my 5 and a bit years of ownership and that was when it gave an error message saying incorrect quality. Sorted with a software update by LR assistance.
When I was buying new there were a few changes that came in (mine is June 2015 and an EU6). From memory, these were:
EU6 - Adblue
Full size spare as standard
No option of rear aircon
Also not sure when it came in, but I had the option of rear cross traffic and overtaking traffic detection which I chose. The only option I chose, recommended if you can get it.
Cheers Gary
