difference between a 64-66 plate

Hi all, iv been reading on here for a while now, im just about to buy my first disco, iv had defenders in the past, and being from a farming back ground have always had a discovery or defender in the family.

My question is im looking for a HSE Lux or Landmark spec, around 30k, is there any difference between a 64 plate and a 66 plate? - i know you cant get a landmark 64 plate

i Just have the opportunity to buy a lovely 64 plate, but is the same price as some 66 plates, and my brain says newer is better? but is it?

Thanks
Tom

Eu 6 engine is night an day better than the Eu 5.

Much better mapped gearbox. Goes like a rocket when pushed..

I'm in an Eu 5 now and was in an eu 6..

Get the 66 if you can..

Thumbs Up

Can you not map a Eu5 to be like an Eu6?

I have an EU 5 and have a Bodsy map. It brings the vehicle closer to EU 6 but isn't that. The gearbox map in the OEM EU 6 imho is outstanding.

Get an EU 6 if you want the best engine and gearbox performance is my experience.

I do love my new 2014 but the 2016 performance was better. No question..

As above. Thumbs Up

Having had both EU5 and EU6 D4’s, the EU6’s are noticeably sweeter. They feel more powerful throughout the rev range.

I’d not spend much money on any Diesel engined vehicle that wasn’t EU6 and I’d only lease or PCP a new diesel vehicle. Too many Council's will be out to milk the motorist as much as they can or simply ban diesels full stop. Which won’t be great for residual values.

Just extra expense and more to go wrong with a euro 6 engine

Neil - Welcome

That's certainly one opinion. But IMHO the slight extra risk of something going wrong with an EU6 engine is offset by the fact that the whole car will be newer, & being closer to the end of production will have some of the problems experienced by earlier cars resolved.

Will you please complete your profile, so we know what you own?
