Difference in handling road/offroad Cooper ST to Cooper STT?

What is the difference in handlich on road/offroad 17'' Cooper ST compared to Cooper ST? Which one should I take?
Used only for weekends offroading but ususally there is first to drive around 500 to 600km on german motorway where you can drive as fast as your car can go Mr. Green before you can offroad.

I brought the STT's and they are fine on the road but noisy. They corner reasonably fast but breaking distances are effected in a hard stop particularly when towing. However I dont travel at > 80mph on them and would not push them in the wet.

In summary they are safe on the road if your sensible but they are not road tyres, they are amazing off road in mud as per the design.

I use them for driving to / from venue to offroad and then swap to road tyres for majority of road driving.

Regards

Chris

Mounty for your type of driving I would recommend the ST . I have STT's that I only fit when I go overlanding as they are not very nice to use for daily driving . Definitely noisier and the handling is not the best on tar .

Mounty,

I have STT's and just drove about 600 miles on them, of which about 200 was rough offroading, mud and rocks, some motorway at 70mph+ and yes they are noisy compared with the standards, but not too bad. The roads were dry so i don't yet have a view on them in the wet, but I have confidence in them.

Both the ST and STT seem to have the same speed rating "Q" 99mph or 160kph, so you should bare this in mind on the autobahn Whistle

I'd say take the STT's Thumbs Up

I've run both ST's and now STT's.

IMHO the noise factor from both are similar. There is a speed rating of "Q" on the 245/70/17" which is 160kph or 99mph so don't exceed this speed or .....

I would not recommend ST's because they are prone to chip and crack. This is why Cooper brought out the ST-C compound but they are only available in some 16" tyres. Mine were replaced by Cooper's Australian Dealer on a prorata basis for the STT's and the STT's have lasted longer than the ST's.
