Difference in rolling Dia between MTR's & HP's (19" |
|
Just got my new set if 19' MTR's
FACT: there is a 20mm diff in the rolling diameter of the new MTR (255/55/19) vs the HP all weather 255/55/19. (the MTR is only slightly larger probably due to the additional tread depth) but tyres are both same size.
Question...?
Will the extra 20mm rolling diameter of the MTR create havoc with the traction control if I get a puncture and have to replace one MTR with a HP All weather?
Thanks What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

No not at all... I ran 1x 19" MTR, 1x 18" space saver and 2 x 18" Scorpions for 20 miles with no issues whatesoever 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I agree with the answer or 1 MTR tyre on. However, I once had 2 MTRs on the back and road tyres on front (don't ask why = dumb idea). On perfectly smooth bitumen or rough gravel it drove okay but on more typical uneven bitumen surfaces here the D3 wallowed around like a Nissan Patrol (ie, deadly unstable). After I blew one of my front MTR's at Abingdon I actually did about 200 miles in total on 3 part worn MTR's and one pretty well new HP before I got it fixed. They were mainly motorway miles and it did feel a bit weird but the car was fine. Craig
