Different Aspect Ratio Fwd/Rear

Hi All,

I need to change the tyres on my D4 Lux and was planning on going from 50 to 55 on the aspect ratio - people say the ride is better. I have 20" wheels currently but the rears have a bit of tread left for now, can I change the fronts to 55 and leave the rear on 50 until they wear down?

If your changing size, all 4 need to be done at the same time

You've not said you're changing width, so I'd say no. surely you'll get wind up in the transmission ?

I'm going to go from 255/50R20 to 255/55R20. It seemed that people suggested that was a decent upgrade!

My ruff sums calculate front's circumference will be 3.5 inches more so centre diff will be working full time?

Hmm I did wonder about that. Maybe I'll rotate the wheels for now then do them all at once!

Is there much difference in 55s? Anyone here done it?

Found a tyre comparison calculator...

One axle would be doing 13 more revolutions per km !

Thanks all, think I'll rotate the wheels to get the most out of them then change all 4. That being said, I've probably only got 3mm on the backs anyway!
