Differential D3 question
Hi everybody,
after another epic journey round France and the British Isles unfortunately our trusty D3 needs a new front diff. My indy in Germany has told me the original LR part is 2500 euro
I researched the internet and found this on LR direct:
The OM part is only a third of the price. My dealer reckons that only branded LR parts the bee's knees but the difference in price is staggering. I'm very tempted to order the OM part from LRdirect. I did the same with lower wishbones and hubs and was quite happy. What do you think?

You could call or email LRdirect to ask how do they know it’s the same manufacturer’s part but just without the oval logo.
Also, if you’re ok with used ones; Men of Salvage and Kent 4x4 Breakers have a good rep. I’ve ordered small parts from both and received good service. Stay away from Metal Monster Junk, there is a thread on one of these forums on them.

Cheers lads. Just ordered the OEM part from LRdirect for 830 quid today as I am not willing to fork out two and a half grand for a diff Think it should be ok
A lot of my mates ask me why I hang on to the old waggon after spending a small fortune on it over the last seven years.....the answer is simple: doing a 5-6000 km round trip through Europe and the British Isles every year with three kids in the back, tons of luggage and bikes there is NO other car on the market that can get my family and me around in that much comfort, style and safety....none...period.

It's likely just a diff carrier bearing - if you are capable install new bearings into you current diff. Advanced factors do a kit:
DA5039 Front Differential Bearing & Seal Kit Discovery 3, 4 & Range Rover Sport
£134.05 £160.86 (inc. VAT)
AdrianSeries one 1949 - in bits, chassis is strapped to the ceiling in my garage (beside the canoe)
LR 90 - In bits
Disco 3 - currently in bits
