I have an 07 manual D3. It is very difficult to engage 1st and the change to 2nd is also quite 'baulky'. An engineer at work (aeroplanes) drove it and reckons the clutch is dragging.
Does anyone have any comments or advice before I ring the dealer? (it is under warranty).
I have had the car for 2 months now and I am happy with everything else but the clunky and obstructive gear selection is taking the edge off the pleasure of driving it now.
Is it me? Am I expecting too much?
Any advice much appreciated....

the clutch and flywheel in manual D3 is not the best thing ever invented....get onto your dealer TLO has left the building.......

If it's secondhand who knows what the previous owners did to the clutch - they may have been riding it maneavouring a heavy trailer rather than using the low-box, so it could well be bolluxed. Also it depends on mileage and you don't mention what yours has clocked up.
However, our D3 is an early 2005 manual and I remember that we had the clutch replaced under warranty at around 35k due to a known issue at that time with the earlier vehicles, but that shouldn't be the case on an '07 model, though this is a Land Rover, so it may be worth getting the dealer to check if the VIN fell into that category. I'll try and dig out the TSB if I still have it.

Did you buy from a LR dealer? If so, they 'should' cover the replacement of the clutch.
If you bought from a non LR dealer, or private, then start pricing up a new clutch. Best bet is to try a local independent as it will be ££££ from a dealer My D3 Build Thread

Thanks for replies so far. I bought from Taggart LandRover in Glasgow and it has 44000 miles now. I will take it along and see what they say.
