he needs to try new bulbs then, they do deteriorate with age. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The bulbs are not very old and full beam is fine even if it is difficult to know exactly as the lightbar is on with full beam.
What would you consider normal life of the xenon bulbs?Discovery 4, MY2011, TDV6 Auto

I'd expect a good 5 years, probably more. Cheap ones maybe less.
Mine were still very good in the first D4, 2011 car , when it was nicked in 2016..

My early MY2014 HSE also has woeful Xenon dipped beams. they are bright enough and the beam is the right shape, but the cut off on the road is only about 10 or 11m ahead of the car. The full beam seems to be angled correctly - neither illuminating the trees nor the road directly in front of me - shining as well as it can straight ahead.
Is there an adjustment for the flap in the headlights that will not cut off the dipped beam quite so severely? I don't want to mess with the angle of the dangle of the headlights themselves as the full beams seem OK as far as angle goes.
(Full beams also woeful as a lot of folk know - but that's a different story - currently solved with an LED lightbar!)D1 300Tdi - gone
D2 Td5 ES (Alive remapped...mmm) - sadly gone

If your full beam is ok, the dipped beam will be to low, it’s a known fact with D4s and face lift are even worse main beam is only good for spotting pidgeons roosting in trees.
Adjust the lamp body to lift the beam higher with the Philips adjusting screw above the lamp body, having them set to low can be an MOT failure, crazy I know.
Also the body height will effect the height of the beam if it has been adjusted for any reason. It can when others can't,

It goes where others don't.

The throw of my dipped headlights on my 2016 MY (June 2015) is also not far enough (too low?) . The main beam is fine. I had read there was no adjustment on these headlights. I recently had my headlights replaced (don’t ask!) and they are exactly the same.
Obviously have to be careful to do it without proper calibration, but can you advise where the adjusting screw is?
ThanksGary

There are 2 screws, one for up down and one for left right.
You need a very long narrow flat blade screwdriver for the up down screw.
Search headlamp adjustment on here, there are a few threads from memory.
As others have said, when you get good dip pattern, full beam is too high; shame the shutter can be adjusted on the xenons..

A flat blade screwdriver will damage the plastic/nylon adjuster, you need a large Philips driver It can when others can't,
