Disable Start Stop

I was told if you let the battery run down to the point the dash says low voltage and then charge it backup again, the start stop automatically disables (without the light) until you tell it it has a new battery.

So far this has worked for me. stop start hasn't kicked in once and i don't have a light on the dash.

Never liked the thought of hard driving, hot turbos then car turns of off at a junction.

Start saving for a new main battery Big Cry, although I cannot understand why anyone would want to disable stop start on a Disco, I think it is brilliant compared to other cars I’ve driven with it, I cannot make a faster start with it disabled, it starts like the engine is on a coil spring, magic Very Happy

Would this be an MOT fail item?
Mine hasn't worked for months and I quite like it that way. MOT is due next month tho so if it's a potential fail I'll get it looked at under warranty.

my understanding is that start stop is out of scope for MOT, however any EML or warning lights are.

As above start saving for a new battery, it will fail completely and let you down.

Enthanicus: a voltage test will not show 100% that it is failing, you need an amp load test.

My original main battery was replaced within 12 months from new and following that the stop/start worked for a further 2 years. The small battery then failed without warning (except for a dash message) 6 months ago and its replacement saw the stop/start work again immedietly.

About 3 months ago the start/stop would only work if the main battery was put on the Ctek overnight. The main battery was replaced again a couplke of months ago and again the start/stop has operated as expected ever since.

I can't see any reason not to have it working - its dependant upon how hard you press the brake pedal when at rest, as to when it actually cuts in, so you still have control of how and when it works for you. Thumbs Up

Mine only works now and then, usually after a day with the Cetek, went through the MOT like it, new main battery fitted last year.
