Disabling keyless access

Oh the Joy's of insomnia.

2am this morning decided I'd disable keyless entry. Turned out to be very easy.

Got up, went downstairs and turned the house alarm off.

Found carkeys. Pressed "lock" and watched mirrors fold. Pressed again to deadlock. Went back to bed.

Embarassed

I double press the button on the driver's door handle. That way a nice "loud" RF signal isn't broadcast from the key to the car from a distance. No idea if it actually helps make it more secure but I feel better about doing it that way. Thumbs Up

I got the dealer to disable it on day of collection. It requires a bit more than simple button presses. Needed a technician with a code and only that chief technician has access to it. He returned the chart to a high heid bloke. It was taken for safe keeping By the handover person. The details in the car are in the electronics package.

It doesn't need anything more than simple button pressing - just has to be in the right order that's all.

On my RRS its get into car, press the headlamp button on fob three times quickly and then the unlock button. That is the keyless unlock disabled. To return it back you press headlamp button three times quickly and then the lock button.

Probably similar on D4?

I was simply pointing out my own stupidity... my car was only "keyless entry" because I forgot to lock the damned thing. Embarassed

Thought the geeks on here would know that JLR has introduced InControl technology which alerts the dealer to car being moved or stolen and immediate notification to owner. It involves a Tracker. It needs attended to if you are putting your car in for service. This is what I was referring to in my earlier post. Not pressing a few buttons on the key fob.
