Forum member Bodsy did the EGR removal/patch on my '09 D3 for me - was the first thing I had done when I bought it! Pipework is still in place, so without taking the engine covers off (which an MOT tester isn't permitted to do) there's no way of telling that they're blanked.
Having exhaust gas piped back into the engine makes no real sense to me - it's the equivalent of someone drinking their own p*ss, surely?!

They can be blanked leaving pipework in place, remove the butterfly and then you need to have a software patch applied to tell the car that ear errors aren't important
Most importantly this removes the huge amount of sludge pumped back in to the engine on ticker and over run and also removes the possibility of an under bonnet fire when one sticks open (As I have had on my 2009 HSE D3)
In this case, do you blank with those kits you find online all the same? (installing the plate between the hose and the valve?
Also:
Can I use an Autel MaxiAP AP200 to apply the software patch?
Or do I need the GAP tool? (trying to not spend my other kidney in the Disco at the minute )
Thanks guys, you save me over and over here in this forum!Kleb

a stupid question guys, your 2009 comes with DPF?
And if yes, with the EGRs blanked, what happen to the regeneration frequency? It should be more frequent than normal due to heavy load of black smoke due to EGRs cutout... or i'm missing something?- Easy-Lift suspension module 4.0
