Disco 3 automatic wipers retrofit

Hi all,

Recently picked up my first D3 and love driving it so far. It's a 56 plate (Nov) HSE and I have been looking into retrofitting auto wipers. I have auto lights (xenon, non adaptive I think) so the sensor is behind the rear view mirror "looking" out the windscreen.

I'm hoping that removing the old stalk and replacing with one like below is all I need to do to enable auto wipers, but would appreciate any insights from the community and if others have done this before. Are the sensors the same for auto lights and wipers? Is there any additional wiring/programming that needs to be done?

Thanks for any advice on offer!

I would have thought it already has them?
My 06 Metropolis has them, Metropolis is just an HSE with added bling and most of the options as std..

I turned mine off uisng the IID tool as I found the auto sensors to be hopeless.

If you take a pic of what you have by the mirror from the outside I will check mine for you.

I turned mine off with my IID too. I find auto wipers very annoying. They never seem to be able to get the speed correct in my opinion. Sometimes they go crazy at the slightest hint of moisture on the screen, other times they just sit there when water is building up on the screen Evil or Very Mad

I thought all UK spec HSE D3s had auto-wipers.
Possible previous owner turned it off with IID or similar. I'd make that the first port of call rather than buying parts.

hello, if you have auto lights, you should have a auto wipers! because they are intimately related in the same sensor. 👍🏼

Mines a 2007 (56 plate) SE, and has auto wipers.

I'm not a big fan of anything 'auto' but I do find the auto wipers quite good. Occasionally I think they are wiping too much or too little, but generally they are good. And the wiping is speed related.

yeah should have auto wipers.

its the same stalk for most models.

simply push the stalk up one notch,
and with the ignition on, wiper you finger past the sensor and the wiper should work.

need to get an iid on there if it doesn;t work
