Disco 3 or Disco4

Hi everyone due to lack of everyday use and the fact i have another grand child on the way i am looking to move from my supercharged sport so want a disco again as with the 7 seats and huge boot seems again what i need but not sure as to buy an early 2.7 hse with low miles or a 3.0 hse with higher miles i know the pro's and con's with cranks timing belts, pumps etc but would like some opinions on what everyone would go for have seen a few higher mile 3.0's with around 140-150,000 and full history so wondered on peoples thought on the cranks in them
Thanks for any advise help offered

if you get a D3 get a V8 4.4 very reliable engine.

As you have been around for 4.5 years guess you know all the possible issues and the fact that thorough and preventative maintenance is king.
Personally, I’d go for a D4, cabin environment better IMO (I had both). Not sure which is the most reliable? - D3’s spin shells and D4 snap cranks

Hi Geoff

How are you , I have both my 3 has 180,000 on the clock and still going strong usual things had to be done as with all Landrover lol had no engine problems apart from the egr valves,

My 4 90,000 on the clock and again no real issues it’s my daily drive one week it does 100 mile the next it can do a couple of thousand usually serviced every 10,000 for both of them the 3 litre does make it feel a bit more refined and the eight speed box makes in my opinion it drive better than the 3

For me the service history is key, I know of plenty that only do things when they have to I prefer one that’s come from a enthusiast someone who has spent more money than sense lol ( wait that’s me 😀)

If it was me Geoff I would go with the D4 and take out an insurance policy which covers everything my personal opinion you would still want a Landy if you had an X5 😀

I've had both...

I would go for a late 8 speed Adblue D4 & take out a warranty probably with WD.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Yep, late D4 would be ideal. At least you will be able to drive it everywhere for now, without getting charged extra!

Not sure I want to spend the money on one new enough to get WD to cover those things which cost so much that’s what my deliver is to be honest with the state of play with diesel/tax and the government saying what they so that’s why I am thinking either older or high mileage about 7/8 years old and don’t think they would be covered by a warranty because of age/mileage Thumbs Up
