Didn't think yoiu could unless you use a plug in thingy. Otherwise they're mapped to the original engine only aren't they?

One of the site sponsors stated, that the configuration can be taken of the car and then this "dongle" is free to be used on a other car. (e.g. you sell your car and want to take the remap with you...)

Several modules including the ECM are not interchangeable across vehicles as the VIN is coded into it, when the module is initialised, it checks various security keys with other modules and will not allow the engine to fire if there is a mismatch

So if I had one for sale I wonder how the car it came from drove away without a re-map. I think I need to check this out.

Nothing to do with whether the vehicle has been remapped or not, the ECM can be coded to the vehicle with the correct tool (IDS / Autologic), if two ECM's were simply swapped over, neither vehicle would start

So in the same sort of context. If you purchased a remap from any of the suppliers is it tied to your car or can you plug it into any D3 and programme them all the same?

I don't have a map or have any intention of getting 1, before anyone asks Thumbs Up

it's tied to the vehicle, even if you managed to get the security keys 'swapped', in the event of a dealer overwriting the remap and you requesting it to be reapplied the checksums will be different due to the change in VIN so therefore the ECM swap will be evident, also, there is no guarantee that earlier versions of the ECM will operate on later engines safely (an EU3 ECM will not work on an EU4 engine and vice-versa)
Dunno about the 'tune in a box' stuff

If you thought the car was good standard, it is superb remapped! I've got one D3 with TorqTune & one with Turbo Chip, no hesitation in recommending either! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
