You can’t crank it over cus the valves and pistons will hit.

You will need new head bolts and a torque wrench

Have you checked the head for warping?

Cam belt may be off, but unless ALL teh valves are closed, (On the head that remains on?) there could still be interference?

To crank it over you would need to remove all four camshafts so that the valves remain closed

So I wanted to refit the head today when I spotted these.

There’s two that come out at the back of the engine.... looks like I’ve broken one somehow.

Any idea guys?

they are just vents.

they need to be open, not crushed ends.

the biggest problem is then not rattling.

if one is good, that can be mounted to the rear of the head, and the second clipped to it

need to sort before refitting head, as they is little access afterwards!

Normally they attach to a bracket at the back of the engine then they are bent in a u shape. They dont connect to anything they are just open to the atmosphere. Trace the pipes back and if it is them extend them with rubber pipe up to around the brake master cylinder area.

I’ve just had it confirmed as the gearbox and transfer case breathers.
Thanks
