Both approved models, both with supported firmware, both worked about as much as a  on disability benefit under a Labour government .......

Nah; you're just unlucky!
My old Sony Ericssons (approved list, cradle) both worked, as do the two iPhones (original & 4G, BT) on an unmodified 2005 'S' with factory PTI. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

LTB0325 - but there is also an LTB 0299 that includes updates to the touch screen.

Got the same problem with mine now although seemed OK when I first had my iP4, seems to be getting worse, wont even find the D4 to attempt to pair with.
My iP4 seems only too happy to try and pair with every other model of car which pulls up along side it!!
Is it just a case of contacting my dealer and asking for the LTB0325 update mentioned above and is this going to put it right?

D4 taken to the dealer today (who I purchased from) who informed me that to do above software updates would cost £95 + VAT !!! as not covered by any warranty type clause.
What a waste of time and effort, why not tell me that when I booked it in.
Not having any of that so spoke to LR Customer Services who said as a good will gesture they would cover such associated costs ~ just book in with a dealer and quote a case ref no and LR contact no which was provided to me.
So, I decided to try another equally local dealer who after explaining the situation said that they could do and there should be no charge for these updates but gave them the case ref no and LR phone no anyhow just in case.
What's going on here then?
Now booked in for next week with this local LR dealer. 2015 D4 HSE in Corris Grey
