Well if you wouldn't mind sharing what they say, that would be great.

Dave? from Linear Electronic Design gave me a call back this morning to confirm that it's exactly what were expecting. It hard mounts into the vehicle on the side of the boot where the tow bar is usually installed - takes around 20 minutes if you've got basic electrical skills to splice and solder in the three wires. It then has a switch that is fitted in the boot trim next to the cigarette lighter power outlet - 20mm hole required for this and then it neatly pops in. When activated the vehicle will go into trailer towing mode with the relevant settings and system adjustments applied.

But based on Kelvo's responses fairly doable to make yourself. What I'd really like is an automatically activated unit - no switching required for on or off!

Not the first time you’ve asked a very similar question here twr7cx. https://disco4.com/forum/d4-led-trailer-li...86769.html with my solution there as well.

I forgot about that thread. I wonder why it didn't show up in the results when I searched. Strange. Thanks though for pointing that out!

The issue there is how will the module know if a trailer with normal or LEDs is attached? You would need to use a D3 style box with relays and resistors, then a tow socket with a reed switch. The reed switch then activates the ‘D3 relay box’. But how hard is it really to flick a switch on or off?
