The problem is that it doesn't behave as other D4 MY's or D3's and if you have the fault it is uncomfortable in the car. If you notice the people with the issue tend to be MY16.
Fortunately I seem to have fixed mine, which shouldn't have been possible if it was working correctly as LR claimed.
My dealer was excellent supporting me, but their hands were tied.

DG.......point noted ref the multiple posts !
In terms of the temp difference from the vents, I agree that there may be some slight difference, but not as much a 12 degrees, it really is unbearable in the car and I say this as a person who has had many cars, with no issues to report in this regard before.
Thanks - Paul

I acknowledge the under-reading issue on 2016MY's ...I'm just trying to point out that despite that, I don't believe that the experiment in the video will give the consistent temperature results the OP is looking for.
As I understand it in Topix
Quote:When maximum cold is selected, the module also automatically sets the air source to ATC recirculated air, blower speed to maximum and distribution to face.
When maximum hot is selected, the module also automatically ATC sets the air source to fresh air, blower speed to maximum and distribution to footwell.
......anywhere the temp dials are set in between should be proportional to whether the screen or the footwell is more active...also if the manual mode dial is activated it holds the distribution pattern it was in when switched from Auto... unless one of the directional air distribution buttons is pressed. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

My previous Landrovers have supplied a great heating / cooling system. Very rarely did the heat settings dial need changing.
My My16 is not so!
For me the main issue is no heat comes via the upper air vents, unless manually selected.
As no heat is coming out I find in particular the drivers side glass remains extremely cool, in the colder temps. If you rest your arm on the door or your shoulders are near the glass window it does seem to provide a much colder feel in the car than perhaps is the reality. As mine, use it manually to get warm air from the upper vents.

I wish mine would stop blowing cold air on my nuts - even with the vent shut it still tries to push cold air out, you can feel it.

ITP wrote:Mine went to the dealer again two weeks ago. I am told that they have finally changed something after a consultation with JLR, the internal temperature sensor. The climate control appears to be OK now, although the cold weather has gone and I will really not be sure until next winter, however the temperature has remained stable on a couple of long run so I am optimistic!
Pity it has taken 18 months and twelve days off the road for such a simple fix to be effected!
Thanks for the updates chaps. For clarity, can someone please confirm which sensor is the "internal temperature sensor" is that the one in the dash by the steering column, the same one where the TSB gets the foam replaced? LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

You can and should get hot air from the rear vents, this is part of the problem that we have with this climate control issue........the rear vents are linked to the face vents in the front, so whatever they are doing the rears will do the same.
The internal temperature sensor is the one behind the small grill next to the steering column on the left hand side.
I have spoken to Landrover customer services today and my video from last night has been sent to the technical team at Landrover - I am awaiting their feedback and I will advise as soon as I have any.
Thanks - Paul

I see that there was a TSB for Cabin Temp on 2016MY ...does that shed any light?

I have spoken to Landrover customer services and no feedback received from the technical team in response to my video. Customer services have acknowledged that the technical team have the video.........I am disappointed that there is no feedback at all after two days, even if it were just to say that the technical guys finally understand the problem and they are looking into it !!
I will update again tomorrow.......
Thanks - Paul

My D4 goes in for its first service on Monday. I have sent this message to the dealer (Stratstone in Aylesbury), will see why happens:
"When the AC is set to Auto, and the temperature is set to warm the car, warm air only comes from the windscreen and footwell vents. No warm air comes from the front middle vents on the dash. This also means no warm air comes out of the second row vents as these vents match the front middle vents. The only way to get warm air in both the middle vents and the rear vents is to turn Auto off and press the middle vent button. If the temperature is set to cool the car, cool air does come from the middle and rear vents." MY16 D4 Graphite in Loire Blue
