Disco 4 oil leak by starter motor
Hi, my disco has sprung a fairly bad leak over the last few days after a long road trip ... ive just been scrambling underneath to see where its coming from and it looks like its coming from a sensor to the front of the starter motor... does anyone know what this part is? and is it just a bolt out bolt in part?
its on the os of the engine just above the drive shaft..
Thanks in advanced for your help

I've just undid the bolt to remove the sensor and the wires go right through the middle of it into the engine somewhere internal, out of sight, and covered in oil.... does this sound right for a crankshaft sensor or is it a different sensor? As was hopping to take it off to pop to parts shop to get the right sized o ring or just buy a new sensor, but can't as can't disconnect where ever the cable goes.

Don't think its the crankshaft sensor as its towards the bottom of the engine by the starter motor and drive shaft... ive attached a different photo below... ive took the pic lying on the floor

Just popped to my local landrover dealer to get there parts desk to find out what it is.... it's part of the wireing loom for the oil level sensor... I've orderd the wireing loom and not just the gasket... hopefully it's not to much of a pig oh a job to change!!!

If you mean the item 9G481, you need to remove the oil sump..... that mean remove the front diff.....

Spot on dgardel and a right pain to remove sump front diff out from memory I'd just replace the o-ring and see how that goes, but if the oils coming from inside the plug and not around the outside then a new loom it is Wanted D4s non runners pm for competitive price.
