I had a quick look at the new Disco 5 spec list for Australia
I cant believe that 7 seats are not standard on SE,HSE+lux models? and they want $3500 for this option?
I haven't seen it in the flesh yet, but I reckon I will be looking elsewhere for my next ride.

LR Australia a a pretty stupid bunch i my experience. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

The reality is that most people don't actually use 3rd row seats so I have no issues making them an option.
Why pay for something that you don't use.

it's a must have for me And LR dealers will need to throw it in for free before I would even consider buying one.
There is no shortage of unsold RRS and F paces at my local dealship. It will be interesting to see how the "baby got back" D5 goes.

I think you will find the GVM will be higher with the extra seats so worth considering just for that reason Do not take life too seriously no one gets out alive anyway!

Spoke the dealer today - apparently 3rd row comes with air bag suspension and not coils - think that accounts for the price increase. Justification for this ... suspect?

Sorry just to correct my beer powered previous post. The S has coil springs and they won't let you put a 3rd row unless you have airbag suspension... Which I don't think is an option on the S.... Only standard in the SE. So if you wanted the third row and you are looking at the S it wil cost a lot more than above for the privilege. Not sure if that was previously the same for the D4.

I can remember when the D3 was released the price point moved from 55k for a mid spec diesel D2 (SE level) to roughly 75k plus on roads for an equivalent D3.
I spoke to a LR salesman and he was shocked at the new price point, but Said LR Australia had very carefully spec'ed Oz D3's (SE and above) to have air suspension, xenon lights, electrochromatic rear vision mirrors, heated door mirrors and 7 SEATS.
He commented, that they could not compete with Toyota if they didn't have 7 seats as standard!!!
It's now obvious that after 12 + years, that the D5 is not aimed at competiting with Toyota anymore, it's now aimed at competing with BMW and Mercedes.

As someone who has ordered a Disco 5 in Australia I must admit to being shocked how easily it ended up at $140k on-road price.
With regard to the big Toyota the top of the line price for one of those is near $130k.

I am sure it not news to most but I naively thought I would pop into the dealer and pick up discounted D4 ... run-out ... end of financial year sale ... that sort of thing. Nope .. apparently only under 20 new D4's in the country. Apparently 2nd hand ones sell as soon as they come in.
I have never really thought myself in a red disco4 but the dealer in Canberra has a new one (and btw no others), SDV6, blackpack ... I started thinking ... maybe red is my colour. They aren't in a hurry to sell at just south of $120k... maybe just stick to my grey D3.
