DISCO3.CO.UK Newsletter - thoughts?

What would folk think about a dedicated DISCO3.CO.UK Newsletter, or rather e-update or e-mail type layout?

I thought a brief PDF sheet could be produced on a semi-regular basis and sent to subscribed member and/or posted on the site for people to find, covering factors along the lines of...:

- Roundabout of latest 'happenings' on the forum [eg. biggest threads, breakthroughs, developments etc...]

- Changes to the forum and 'coming soon' [eg. new sections added, improved search function, lauch of DISCO3 FM etc...]

- Milestones [eg. members reaching 10 000 posts, x hundred thousand posts, x thousand members etc...]

- Advertisment for new items added to the Shop

- Future events / up-and-coming events [eg. Training days, Pub meets, Laning days, meets etc...]

- Write-ups and photos from previous events, submitted by attending members.

- Adverts and news from the site sponsors

- Related D3 news, [eg. Awards won, new modifications/accessories, enhancements available etc...]

Any ideas what else could/should be included?

If enough members thought it to be a good idea, I'd be more than delighted to help put something together but of course would require input from those more technically-minded and attending the events etc etc...

What would still need to be established would be:

- Foremost, permission from Martin.

- Contributions from members [eg. Short, snappy one-paragraph write-ups of events attended; Photos; News etc...]

- A medium for dispatching the newsletter. Post it on the site, or e-mail it to subscribed addresses? How would an e-mail account be set up to do so?

- How often? Monthly may be a bit too often to find new events and news to write about, but yearly too long and too much. Quarterly?

Any thoughts on this? Realistic?

Excellent idea CY Thumbs Up

Doesn't need to be too much to start with - produced as a downloadable PDF?

I like it. Many forums issue a newsletter to all registered members. Are you volunteering to be editor?

No experience but anything for a laugh... Thumbs Up

I'd be happy to compile a newsletter but regarding Events, other than Tong/Rockingham type days, I'm unlikely to have much else to say so would certainly require some external input..

Any other suggestions on logistics/practicalities appreciated too.

CY, why not make it seasonal, i.e Spring, Summer etc!

Also, I could do a piece on the factory tour which I might be going on in the summer!

Hmm, nice idea CY but what's the point Question Surely it'd just duplicate what on the site already, it's not like we're a club with some members that aren't online and if it's quarterly most of the info would be out of date by the time it's published Confused

Just my three penneth worth......
