A bit more info about the curcumstances would help, like just after start up, or at speed, etc, etc, Low battery volts is a possibilty if it occurs just after start up. Not sure about the EML on the V8 though

Get it on a faultmate, fault code reader as probably the only proper way to isolate the faults.
I had a transmission fault at the start of the month, the sports, semi auto side wasn't working and at yesterdays service, the dealers computer picked up a fault in the triptronic switch, so new one ordered under warranty.
The screen did show up a transmission fault, but after letting the car go to sleep, it cleared its self and the sports box side started working again. I don't think it recorded the fault, so how their tech picked up on it?
Though the master tech at my local franchise really knows his stuff luckily enough.
Otherwise, how would they know that it was the switch that was at fault and not something else, ecu etc.ATB

Not sure about anyone with a FM, but it does sound like your battery is low. Has it had a good long run recently?

Always trusted my cars with "Charles Adrian Automobile Engineering" in Checkets lane worcester, not sure if he has a fault mate as I haven't seen him for a few years now since moving up here.
