Discovery 3 front grille upgrade

Hi New to this forum and to Land Rovers. I have had my first Discovery 3 for a couple of months and love it.

I am thinking about changing the front grille for a Discovery 4 style.

My car is a very dark blue, almost black. Is this Buckingham blue? I was trying to find a grille with colour matched sides and silver mesh. Dies anyone have any advice? Are the Beanie grilles still available?

Many thanks

Check eBay, breakers and PowerfulUK.

AFAIK Beanie grilles are not actively being made anymore.

And welcome Thumbs Up

I have a PowerfullUk one. It's ok, but the tabs the click it in broke in a few places.

Also this one, and a few others, are very open mesh. I was worried about stones in the rad so I put some stainless mesh behind the grille. Looks pretty good despite the fact its actually stuff for reinforcing plaster I had left over from the house build.

I have had a couple of aftermarket D3 grilles from Ebay, a grey one with silver and a black one that I sprayed the silver grille black to darken it down as it was a bit too silver on the car

Second the comment about the tabs - they do snap really easily on the aftermarket ones

Another option is to get a factory D3 one and make your own version of the Beanie Grill by cutting and joining the parts from an early D4 grille or parts from the Full Fat Range Rover like in this thread...

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/new-type-gr...p;start=15

RonPs one looks good and theres some pics of how to cut the D3 one in the tread

If you want a D3 grille to cut without damaging yours Ive got a Silver one that the paint is starting to peel you can have if you want, somewhere...

Oops - put the wrong link in it Embarassed Embarassed
