An amazing trip, maybe you should get your own thread & serialise your adventures here on the forum? I'm sure everybody would love to read about it.
I suggest the entire D3/4 calender for 2015 could be made from your pictures, there'd be no competition. Nick

This is not a bad idea @character! Even if I would prefer taking it back to the road. We still miss the classic Moscow to Beijing part through all the "Stans" of course! 5 continents, 67 countries, 1177 days, 167.500 kms., 2 people, 1 LR3!

Amazing!! I'd definitely see if LR fancy having it for a while but keep it yourselves forever.... as you say it's part of your life now - every time you see it there's a reminder of a story that very few get to tell - plus it means it can be a family treasure - imagine a descendant being able to show someone the 100 year old Disco3 that their great-great family member used to go around the world!!

Brilliant. Thanks so very much for posting that lot. Sounds and looks like the trip of a life time. A good enough reason to never ever sell the car to anyone. Some of Those memories will go with it.

So, a good Dutch friend of ours who normally drives Bentleys also owns a 1984 Defender 110 200TDI that he's owned since new. The car has been sitting in his garage for the past 8 years totally unused. He just spent €6000 to mechanically get it back on the road and they came to see us in it from the Netherlands rather than using the Bentley over Christmas.
When I asked him why he'd never sell it, he said because it was the car that his first son was conceived in back of 15 years ago and for sentimental reasons he would never part with it
So the moral of this story is, If he can keep his car for the memory of 3 minutes of pleasure with the back seats down, then surely you should keep yours for the 3 years of fantastic memories you will have of the D3 for the rest of your lives On a mission to find the perfect Pork Pie. Just Found it (I think)..(Yes I have)

Absolutely amazing pictures! I think I saw your car in the Autohome catalogue when I was buying my roof tent?
I hope to travel in my Discovery either through Asia or Africa in 2016, slowly making modifications and scheduling test runs before then!
Can I ask a few questions?
1. What was the most important/useful modification you made to the car (if any)?
2. What was the most useful non-automotive item you took with you?
3. How much expedition experience did you have before embarking on the trip?
4. How would you rate your mechanical knowledge?
What an incredible journey, great to see you on the forum and thanks for sharing! I agree with RRR207, amazing pics and a whole thread which you can serialise. I also like the idea of submitting some pics for the calendar - now going to spend some time looking at your website.
