Sadly " How many left" is about as accurate as throwing darts upside down in a darkened room at a target moving 1 million miles an hour. That in turn comes from Land rovers inaccuracy with how vehicles were registered. My D2 was registered s a 3.5 litre petrol manual for example and my D3 was registered as a V8 SE manual (which they never made). probably due to a lack of fresh crayons at the registering dealers at the time of sale05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system
12 RRS SDV6 HSE (Hers) - Gone and replaced with an I Pace - I can tell you now EV is not the future yet

I am one of the lucky few too. I have owned 2 over the years. In South Africa and now here in the UK. Who can forget when the Top Gear lads reviewed this iconic machine. What an epic indictment. And it's still arguably one of the most capable and versatile production 4x4s ever made. (along with the notable mention of the toy car 80vx, just to prove that I am not a complete zealot )

So is there a way to figure out the number left? I would like to know.
Maybe just a page on this forum could be a start, happy to allow non Tonga green ones, I'm inclusive.
Also did they make a manual V8 version? D3 - Discovery 3 2004 SE Tonga Green with Tundra interior 2.7L Auto 200K - Dead engine? Project

I think they made some as police vehicles but I don't think they were ever in the catalogue as such.05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system

Maybe MOT data? If it's corroborated by the garage at the time of test, that may make it more accurate than purely going off vehicle registration data. Couple of years out of date though.
Can't get the excel to open, but the user guide would suggest the dataset includes makes, models and fuel type which would make it relatively simple to filter out anything other than Petrol D3s.

Hello From NZ - new V8 D3 Owner!
I'm a happy owner of a new to me D3, a 2006 HSE with the 4.4 V8 done the equivalent of 119,000 miles.
I've been thinking of getting one as a project for a couple of years - this one presented itself as a worthy candidate, and as I only paid the equivalent of £1250 I through it's worth the risk. It runs and drives and has only recently been taken off the road since it started overheating. A mechanic has tested it and has found the cooling system overpressures and the coolant shows the presence of hydrocarbons which indicates a blown head gasket. Otherwise it is in pretty average condition cosmetically and the inside is filthy.
It does have a good set of tyres, seems to have been maintained and comes with a ceiling mounted factory DVD player. I don't know if this was a rare option? Someone might be able to enlighten me.
