Discovery 4 Advice Please |
|
I'm looking to change my Disco 3 with 121,000 on her for a 2011/2012 Discovery 4 XS.
I tow a caravan so need one that can use a detachable towball not fixed, but heard that some models have to have a fixed due to a fixing point issue.
Is there any way of knowing which models were affected and is there anything I need to look out for?
Many thanks in advance for any advice?
Cheers. 2011 Discovery 4 XS in Fuji White

There were checks carried out on various Discos and if there was a fault they had the rear cross member changed. People were also offered replacment tow bars and if they towed on a regular basis and a large trailer they were offered fixed tow bars which some opted for.
Why cant you have a fixed tow bar with your caravan, thought all caravans these days could be towed with detachable or fixed. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Removing the towbar has it's advantages, spoils the look of the Disco and saves my shins 2011 Discovery 4 XS in Fuji White

I never leave it on or would have a fixed, as I say spoils the look of them with a bloody great towbar sticking out.
Is there anything I should look out for, i'm looking for one with around 70-80K on 2011 Discovery 4 XS in Fuji White

Am I right in thinking that the D4's with the rotary selector have an 8 speed box compared to the 6 speed with the stick selector?
Is there any difference in the engine? 2011 Discovery 4 XS in Fuji White

The 6 speed has 245bhp
The 8 speed (with rotary gear selector) has 255bhp

Excuse my ignorance but if a fixed one has been fitted, can it be removed and a detachable fitted? 2011 Discovery 4 XS in Fuji White
