It's not a body off job. I have done them.
Yes it's timed & you need the locking tool for the HPFP sprocket, but it's doable in situ.

Yes that is good news my D4 needs a cambelt change this year.

The timing belt is similar to the 2.7. There is less room and you need to be careful with the vacuum connections for the secondary turbo as they are in front of the cover.
The rear belt has a locking tool which locates the HPFP sprocket in a little peg hole on the engine. So to get the timing right you definitely need the starter out to lock the flywheel, the front belt already done and timed ideally. Then you can get the back belt right. To adjust you need to undo the LH cam rear sprocket, which can be tricky, but best to check everything first, as you may be lucky and the timing is correct.
As with the 2.7 patience and a mirror are essential.
