Not sure that this thread is where you meant to post about your brakes, but in any case, I was out the door to work on fixing Disco’s and RRS’s, at 5am this (or is that yesterday now?) morning and just got home a short while ago (1am) after a 500+mile round trip.

My LR4 has rear-DVD factory optioned. Will installing this Carplay solution render it inoperable in the rear?
Our kids enjoy DVD's on road trips, and we enjoy having them on their headphones while we listen to our own music source up front.
I noticed some complaints from other solutions that it renders the rear Inop, and hoping there's a carplay solution that doesn't!

It will kill your DVD player full stop. Not TV but DVD player will regions code out and it won't play through any screen via the car system.
You could play via a separate DVD player in the rear if you use the connections but that's a faff..Jim

Unfortunately, Land Rover in their wisdom, sets the region code on the D4 with the Bosch screen via the GPS location, and as the GPS/ SatNav is disconnected as part of the CarPlay install, the DVD Player can no longer set a region code. IIRC it takes 3 ignition cycles for it to give up and then return and error. The only workaround to date is to play copies of your original disc or ‘region free’ discs.
I can’t see a better solution being developed as DVD use is becoming less and less. While I do come across the occasional customer who uses the DVD player and rear screen entertainment, the vast majority with rear screen entertainment don’t use the DVD player in any case and respond with comments like “what’s a DVD?” or “people still use DVD’s?”
The TV functionality remains unaffected 👍
