Discovery 4 Commercial Modification

I am considering buying a Discovery 4 commercial and installing folding seats in the rear of the vehicle. I would also like to make the rear windows open.

Does anyone know what spec' the commercial doors are in for a commercial? Do they have a wiring loom ready to accept motors? Wjhat parts would I need to pruchase etc?

Is everything else needed inside the doors to return them to opening ones?

What is the law regarding commercials and modifications to doors and seats as fas as VOSA and HMRC are concerned?

To make the rear windows work you need to add the connection to the motor, the restis in the door.

connectiong are available in new motors from LR parts dept.

Hi new to the form but thought i might be able to help

as i have worked at porsche on the cayenne doing wiring work the looms are pritty much all the same apart from that may be the conetion is not there but the wires are on cayenne, s and turbo witch have lots of difrent eletrical options throw out the range so how dose this relat to u. well all manufters will try to save money fact so each car wont have its own persifice loom far to expensive so they will all have the same basics. so for the d4 communicl will have the same loom as the equivelent trim level orderd the wires should be there for the rear electrice windows but might not have the conetion and there should be the holes on the floor under the carpet for the seats as well. but to make sure ur best bet would be to contact a d3 or d4 communicl owner and ask them to have a look in there cars behind the door card and under the carpet if u do find the info u are looking for can u send me it as it is something i would like to do for other resones

hope i helped

Disco 4 commercial rear window motors

Hi all, I just picked up my new commercial and popped the rear door panel of to see what special vehicles had left me to play with and as discussed they have filled the motor electrical socket with black windscreen sealer, they had pulled back the motor control wires and tie wrapped onto the loom, after i had managed to dig out all the black gunk it would appear that on the loom there is a 4 pin socket and on the motor theres a 2 part bus connection, the Censored have removed the little "Adapter" that join loom to motor, i have looked on my Disco 3 and its fitted with the 2 pin adapter joined to the loom, my question is can you buy the little adapter or do you need 2 new motors ?

Cheers

You can't buy the adaptor on it's own, you have to buy the whole mechanism, they are about £70 each from LR.

I was quoted £95+vat today by a dealer, as an aside I was wondering why, if you can't buy the adapter then why bother filling the motor socket with black mastic ? If you need to buy new motors then it's a pointless excersize

Changing the motors, which include the window lifting mechanism is a right PITA, just pull the adaptor out of the new one and plug it in.

The mastic in the socket comes out easily, just pull it out with some long nose pliers.
