Hello! Dean, could I possibly bother you for a PM too? Went to top my fluids up this morning and the bonnet release lever is loose so can't get in!
Many thanks!

Is there any maintenance that can be done to prevent this happening or signs of wear etc that show? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

There are 2 normal modes of failure... the catches themselves and the connection between the cable attached to the release lever and the under-bonnet cables.
Clean and regrease the catches.
Ty-wraps on the cable joint to stop it separating.

As you're a newbie, I won't share the full details as there are many of us who regard this as a security issue with these cars. Yes, I know other marques owner forums are less bothered about it, but that's how we are on here.
However, as you're clearly in a pickle I suggest try a non LR garage as it's not just Discovery owners who suffer this. .

Hi, I had a similar issue on Saturday when topping up the screenwash.. bonnet opened but wouldn't latch.
I fiddled with the release cable, and it latched, finally, but I'm a tad nervous about messing with it further in case it won't latch again if I get it open..
I need it for work so am being ultra cautious!
If you could PM me the method of getting in if it won't open I would be very grateful!
Thanks.

PM sent.
Been a while since I've had to send one ... wonder if a trigger for this is bonnets being opened to investigate the "strange white smoke coming from nearside wheel arch" ? .

Funny you mention that Dean... I had the white smoke from the wheel arch last weekend, anyone know was it is????? . .. . . just kidding
Please may you send through the procedure via PM? My bonnet catches have been causing issues lately, never quite to the extent that I've not managed to eventually close or open but it feels as though it's imminent.
Thanks in advance.
Chris
