Planning a trip to Northern Spain and Basque country and will need a rental car.
We will be flying into Barcelona and wondered if anybody on here can recommend a company that rents discovery's?

Forget renting. If you stay for more as one month, you could try to get a short lease. Better to contact the local JLR dealer in Barcelona directly. If he doesn't do it, he is the one to know anyone that would ; eventually that party would be his client.. 
I don't know what you are planning to do, but I think a RAV4 or Tiguan are probably obtainable through 'normal' channels... 
I have a simular problem in Portugal, as we have a house there but don't drive there all the time [2500kms]. I drove little cars like renault megane. Once I had an Espace, that wasn't bad size-wise..
But now we drive there, leave the car and fly up&down. We make sure to get the car out before the 6 months laps..

Thanks for the info Dan.
We are planning to take a couple of weeks holiday travelling around the area. The idea is to hire a car, preferably a discovery, as it would seem like downgrading to drive a fiat punto 'or similar' when i have a much better discovery 3 at home!
Unfortunately i don't think we will be able to get a short term lease from the dealer for just two weeks.

Hertz will do a Volvo XC60 or XC90 if you want. Don't see a discovery on their fleet but you could maybe contact them and ask.
