"Distance to empty" seems out?

Anyone got a feel for the accuracy of the fuel remaining calculation yet?

Mine seems convinced I can only do 400 miles on a full tank, despite telling me I'd been doing 32.5mpg over a 50 mile run just before filling up. 11 gallons went in when the gauge was a bit below half, so I assume I've still got an 18-ish gallon fuel tank; even at 30mpg that ought to be good for 540 miles!

My first D3 "ran out" with 40 miles still showing on the range.

New one will do 18 miles on Zero range Whistle before the ECU pretends it's running out Thumbs Up

Yep, the range is pants!. Big Cry

I was coming back from cornwall once. 20 miles to home at 3.00am with 60 miles on range........ dropped to zero range 5 miles from home and no petrol station open!.

Squeeky bum time! Thumbs Up

I usually use the magic of sight to aid in the 'filling' of the said tank way before any range warnings appear or not Whistle

Rich, me too but sometimes i'm a bit more remote than the M4 or M25. A company brand specific fuel card can also prove problematic when north of the border Embarassed

I got stuck in traffic, couldn't get into the planned services due to accident and managed to get 62 miles on zero! Admittedly we were slipstreaming a lorry and crawling along. Don't fancy trying that again!

Hadn't realised it was a problem on some D3s - mine always seemed pretty plausible (though when it said 60 miles to go, you probably had more like 30 before it reached zero!)

The next test will be to see how accurate the MPG figure is - on the D3, that was always optimistic by a good 10-15%

isnt so much the range.....

displayed but the accuracy of the fuel gauge
Tank full....gauge shows full
Tank 1/2 full.....gauge shows maybe 1/3
.....there after falls rapidly to the point the warning light comes on

in short gauge isn't calibrated to the actual contents of the tank....many other vehicles I have owned & driven have far more accurate fuel gauges
 BREXIT - done properly.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
