No, they don’t care. I went through 3 instrument clusters on my old Focus and the second set took 40,000 miles off the clock. The 3rd set had me add on 30,000. I actually lost track of the true mileage but it didn’t matter as it went for scrap eventually.

Thanks all.

I have now been told by the dealer that the MOT station who carried out both MOTs where the Kms distance has been added instead of miles is prepared to create a letter on headed notepaper stating what has happened, and will also copy me on a request to the governing body to change the mistake in the database.

The dealer has also got commitment from the LR main dealer who has serviced the car each time to supply a signed and verified readout of the service history showing the mileage readout from the ECU at each service.

If he can pull those off I think he deserves to sell the car.
