Dometic fridge new cooling unit query

Hi all,

I have had the cooling unit of my domestic fridge repaired for a fault in the tintent.

Now, I have the fridge running on any fuel mode and there is a 'hot' smell. Not burning but slightly worrying non the less.

Is this likely to be the new part running in? The service agent didn't see any issue when double checking. Any one had similar?

Thoughts welcome

I'm pretty sure mine had a whiff when running on gas for the 1st time.
Can you switch it to each mode in turn to try and identify if it stinks on all sources?

They may have painted the cooling coil and that may smell. I thought the units could not be repaired as they were sealed. Who did you use if you don’t mind. My Fendt caravan fridge is obsolete and the chiller will not run on any setting. Thanks. ...........One life live it..........

It was a whole new cooling unit, effectively the whole rear of the fridge bar the elements.

I used the Dometic approved chap - Mission Impossible - great service to be fair. MY2023 Discovery 5 R-Dynamic 3.0

What caravan is this on. I had similar done on our Swift Elegance and had similar smell, the fridge still did not work correctly and I complained again, now got a new fridge which is totally different and works MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

It’s a Swift Russell.

Time will tell. Currently it’s down at the right temperature but then it isn’t really having to work.

Yes it would not get down to temp in warm weather
Swift asked Domtic to put in new fridge they said no and put in new cooler unit which did not work so ended up putting in new fridge

Ah ok, same issue. This is an under counter fridge in a Challenger.
