MOT pass with no advisories. Mechanic said it looked really tidy and well looked after. Pretty chuffed!

Busy couple of weeks for 'Bessie', my D3... all the tin worm bits of the sills and rear wheel arches cut out and replaced (worse than I was expecting) and then MOT today - pass with no advisories with the tester saying it was 'one of the cleanest he'd seen for a long time'.
Just the service to get through next week and then start saving again for next year! Cheers,
Jez

Finally got the slow puncture repaired in my rear o/s tyre.
The tyre’s only 3 years old, with hardly any mileage on it, so not best pleased to have a 2” screw pierce it, but at least the puncture was almost in the centre tread of the tyre, not the edge……I’m a Disco 4 believer. What a vehicle!

Another year, another MOT, Couple of advisories that weren't really a surprise, oil leak, front suspension bush (a pair of arms are sitting under my desk at work waiting to be fitted), light corrosion to subframe (nothing a wire brush and some paint won't sort) and OSR sill starting to corrode (already done the NS).
In all quite pleased with that for a 20 year old car used daily.2004 Disco 3 HSE TDV6

Not today but last Thursday I went down to the garage and collected the remains of my D3 that I had asked back for to sell on.
Then bid a very sad farewell to my car that I had owned for just over 12 years.
Some stuff is listed up for sale and some stuff is going on the D4 in time.In loving memory of FA54WSK.
Rest well old friend, your work is done.

Ten year service at Alltrack4x4. Great customer service there.
I've noticed the ride has become more 'wallowy' of late and mentioned this to them. They found found that front suspension arms need replacing, the propshaft bearing is on its way out and the rear passenger door latch isn't locking.
Total cost of work £1600 Hoping the warranty covers it!
It's only done 50k miles. Is this normal wear and tear? I drive quite conservatively and the vehicle is mostly used at weekends and holidays.Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green

I'd say that's normal wear and tear... on the early side for the propshaft but not unheard of, and the lower arms can go that quickly as the cars are quite heavy on them, of course they'll last longer if it's mostly motorway miles... but yes within normal range.
These beasties aren't cheap to run but worth it IMO

The D3 had a new pair of boots on the front with some Falken Wildpeak A/T3WA AT's. They look much better in the flesh than on the website. I'll be getting a pair for the rear in the next couple months.
Luckily we noticed a nail in one rear tyre which was sorted too.
The car feels more positive already, which is good.Volunteer driver with 4x4 Response South East Wales

Service at West 4x4. All good but revealed a few things that need attention. All to be expected in a 17 year old car.Cheers,

Well she lives on for another 12 months. Few advisories, front pads low, side repeaters discoloured and front inner edge on front tyre, we can live that.
Not bad for 19 years old and 206k.

Fitted some smoked side repeaters, disco 3 forum sticker on back.
Need to do some suspension bits now as preventative maintenance.

I drove 384 miles to the lake district with no warning lights, touch wood. It never missed a beat
The drive on the cottage we have rented, and the drive is rather steep and my handbrake repair all worked and held the car fine. Thank you Bodsy and your brake bible.
Though I have to admit that I brought some wheel chocks just in case

Been gathering bits up for a while now to convert my D3 to D4 front end. So after finishing work at lunch time decided to start stripping down.
Hopefully it'll stay dry at the weekend so I can put it back together ..
