Can I suggest letting them take the car back BEFORE you pay for the repairs Whistle

It happens so often with BP, they penalise those who chose to buy their premium products by stupidly not clearly differentiating between the petrol and diesel pumps. Been there and so nearly joined the club. Best boycott the green filling stations till they see the light, I do.

Check out this link, I did the same and claimed off BP.
They paid the whole cost of the repair when I sent my receipt to them complaining.
May be worth a go if it saves your no claims bonus.

Before I had the Disco3 I did the same thing to my Prado. Fortunately for me I had only filled one of Prado's tanks with unleaded, the other I proceeded to fill with diesel. The garage attendent was throughly confused when I turned to pay for both petrol and diesel!! When I got home I drained the petrol from the car and over a period of 12 months burned the petrol off after dilluting the diesel with it. With the dilluted diesel, the engine ran even rougher and the mileage was a little worse. Couldn't use the petrol on petrol engines because it was already contaminated with a little diesel.

We all stuff up some time....

petrol in a diesel vs. diesel in a petrol

When I was in high school a girl in my class put diesel in her dads car by mistake. Granted it was not entirely her fault.... and here is why. Instead of telling his daughter the difference between the various grades and types of gas fearing it would confuse her he simply told her to put in whatever fuel was the most expensive (as that was the best gas and what her dad's Mercedes required). Well, at that gas station premium gasoline was priced below diesel (and because of what her father said) she managed to pump in a full tank of diesel. I guess there is a lesson in that experience for everyone.

Conclusion and let it be a warning!!!!

Whistle
Well people got the car back after the fuel mix up Whistle but it took 10 weeks to fix
9 weeks waiting for a flaming fuel tank and only hurried on because of calls to Landrover customer services.
So if you planning to try a drop of petrol in your diesel dont expect the car back in a hurry
But all credit to the Guys at Guy Salmon Leeds its back as new only held up by parts availability

My sister rang me today with an interesting story about her new 2007 diesel Mitsubishi Pajero (Shogun) which had approx. 20 litres of unleaded Exclamation Exclamation put in by the Censored man at the garage on Monday.

She wasn't aware until she drove 7 miles and the car stopped. She then realised she had parked at her "normal pump" at the garage - which was fine for her previous car a Lexus RX300. So she rang the garage, they apologised for causing the problem and they came and towed her car away. Apparently the pump attendant was "always making mistakes" Shocked Shocked Shocked

Two hours later they rang her and said it was fixed Surprised

They gave her a full tank of DIESEL fuel for her troubles.......... 3 days later and the car has been running fine...........

I know I wouldn't have accepted it

I know someone with a D3 who filled it with petrol, drove it till it stopped, drained the tank himself and then refilled with diesel and started up again and has been running fine since.
