Get thee to the stealer forthwith!!! Needs a new latch (mine's had 2) or a wiring loom fix (finally fixed the problem).

I had this problem not long after I got my D3, you will need to let the dealer have a look at it - mine had to have a new latch fitted.
Their is a temporary fix though (at least it worked on mine), if you pull the interior lock button at the same time as pressing the door unlock button on the dash it should unlock. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Got vehicle back from dealer at 5:00 PM today after getting permanently on airbag warning light sorted. Blamed on loose passenger airbag connector. Also to sort starting problem which was blamed on lack of charge in battery.
However, unable to get passenger door to unlock when I went to go out earlier this evening. Pulling the interior lock button at the same time as pressing the door unlock button on the dash or on the remote enables it to be opened.
So it is back to the dealer tomorrow morning. Last time round, that time with driver's door, the latch had to be replaced.
Is the failure of the latch a primary fault or is it secondary to some other problem?

Following my earlier e-mail went to the dealer this morning and passenger side latch is faulty and will be replaced next week. So that will be both driver and passenger latches replaced over a 3 month period.
Are they handed or are they the same part?
Is there a suspect batch?

Does anyone know if the D3 inherited it's latch mechanism from Volvo?
Volvo latches suffered from a problem known as the Red Evil Plastic Lever, which was a seriously under engineered piece of plastic that would snap if a fly fa ted near the lock when it was activated. Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
