You say that about snorkels, but the D4 ambulances down are way have snorkels that are not even connected to the air intake Just for the looks 2009 Discovery 3 HSE - Gone
2019 Anniversary Edition D5 - Going
2019 HSE D5 - coming!
It looked to be sat down on its belly, so getting to it by removing the cover would not have been that simple and you gave to know where it is, so who would, tractor driver or police driver my money is on neither

or Fleetwood
Minor detail but Formby is the other side of the Ribble Estuary from Fleetwood- bit like confusing Cardiff with Avonmouth!
Can relate to the Fleetwood/Formby shot I'm afraid - in my yuuuf we used to drive down through the dunes and then along the beach at Formby (over 10miles long) in our Series III pickup. However, got caught out by quicksand on one occassion was recovered by tame 'shrimper' as the sea was lapping into the rear box of the pickup
PS SIII still going more than 30 years later, although rear cross-member is somewhat corroded for some reason Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Yup, but in oh so many ways.
Whatever I do seems to involve getting cold and wet - at the age of 14 I knew I wanted to work with water as I figured that we all need it - hence the hydrology side of things, but also the sailing and mooring work. A dangerous mix of business and pleasure Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

I also had a moment of panic on the same stretch at Formby... I had just passed my test and bought a mark 2 Escort and bogged down at the far end towards high town. Me and my mates tried frantically to dig ourselves out with the odd bit of driftwood that was lying round with no joy as it was getting late and dark I thought I was going to lose my dream car!
Then moments later as the light was fading I saw what I thought was a mirage! Coming towards me almost dark by this point was about 20 vehicles all coming my way to the part of the beach that was the furthest you could go due to a fence. It turned out they were all meeting there for a midnight beach party and happily dug me out and sent me on my way The chances of that happening
They did ask if I wanted to stay and join them but I doubt I'd have got lucky twice in one night

Literally my first ever driving experience (as well as some others! ) was on the beach - my folks thought they could save some dosh by teaching me the basic of driving there in our Citroen CX (great cars, way ahead of their time).
Inevitably we got stuck, so I tried to raise the suspension (this was in a car made in 1980 ) only to succeed in pushing the wheels even further into the sand. Thankfully pulled out by Leeds University Geology Dept in their SIII 109 SafariCurrently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
