Is there a tool one can buy, to make my DPF regenerate at my convenience.
What does the dealers tool cost?

The first question would be why do you need to manually regenerate your DPF? Normally you'd get a message on your display to say that the vehicle needed a DPF regen.
Having said that, keep an eye out for the IID tool from Gap - it may well be able to force a regen in a future firmware release D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

In answer to your question, i get a lot of smoke from my DPF on regen, so i wanted to get regen
at my convenience.
I notice for example some modern American trucks fit a switch to manually make a regen when they want to.
This maybe of interest, i was in a Mercedes showroom the other day, the sales man is telling me
they are now asking prospective buyers what sort of motoring they are going to do, and if local
most of the time, do not buy a diesel
