The old girl is on 250000 doing some preventative maintenance and all the cv boots on the front and rear drive shafts look in a bad way so my question to the forum is this do I replace the whole units due to the mileage and wear in the components and if so with which brand from AF they have GKN or ODM or do I take apart and fit new boots and grease, I’m not sure which way to goRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

It's a difficult question. At 250k you have to decide how much longer you think you'll keep it. If you plan to keep it forever, put new driveshafts on, if you're saving cash, do the CV boots. And a splash of new grease. Richard

If it's a keeper I too would recommend replacing the joints with quality items.
You only want to go there once if you can help it, so it might be worthwhile to consider wheel bearings too if they have not already been done. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
Wheel bearing been done, not sure on opinions on the two Driveshaft versions sold by AF If anyone has used either and can recommend that would be greatRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

Can't offer you any opinion on ODM but I have used GKN for over 40 years and have not had an issue so far. Britpart also do CV's or complete shafts but again I have not used them.
You could ask DM as he uses Britpart and will know if they are up to it yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

If you replace the complete unit, ensure you get the correct nuts for them as the new style is a different thread and isnt staked like the old ones. Also when I bought the GKN ones the supplier said new nuts were included but unfortunately they weren't.Must stop buying shiny toys....
