Drivers seat - HSE visible electrics |
|
Hi All,
Under the driver's seat on my new D4 HSE, there is quite a bit of exposed wiring and connection points. When my wife has the seat in quite an 'advanced' position, it's clearly visible and exposed. I would have thought that some kind of plastic covering would have been in place to prevent this being seen or easily/accidentally tampered with.
Is this just standard application or is a covering missing?
Thanks in advance.

Great thanks.
Can anyone else check theirs to be sure it's common on all cars?

Just checked. There is an ecu under the drivers seat, but it isnt exposed when the seat is fully forward, its visible, but the wires are taped up and then taped to the inside of the seat cross bar - you could push something into it I spose, but its not at all untidy.
Pete. May the road rise with you.

How about under the passenger seat, lot of wires and cable that could easily get messed with by naughty back seat passengers !! Should the sat nav box have a rear cover to protect the cables ???

That's nothing ...I looked under the bonnet and there were lots of wires there next to that hot engine and if you look in the wheel arches you can see some more. What happens if they get tangled eh ?
Wires......it's a disgrace ! 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Now had a look under the passenger seat....
There is a slim black metal unit, with a silver unit screwed on top, but there are no loose wires? The wires come through the carpet adjacent to the units, but they are wrapped in a material tape of some sort, the only bit of wire you can see are from where the covering finishes and the wires go into the units, a couple of cm at most.
Again, there is a crossmember there as well, the wrapped wires run underneath it. Are your wires not wrapped, might be an adjustment they've made?
I'm not disagreeing that there should be a cover, but you'd have to have the seat right forward to bypass the crossmember. Nice place to store crayons, pencils, sweet wrappers though! May the road rise with you.
