I am a lightweight and still have this gap.
Just checked the seat base and if I tilt the front of seat base upwards the gap appears. If I lower the front the gap fully closes. It tilts down and inwards.

I suspect more of a design flaw then a bracket bending...... The TSB might be a cover up for the design flaw?? Won't this new bracket affect your sitting position? I like a good support of my upper legs

Yup looking more like a genuine design flaw .........

Anyone got diagrams/pics of taking the seat apart and reassembly such that i can check regrading the tilt bracket and if required remedy this niggle.

under the seat you've got 4 chrome screws that hold the seat base on to the two brackets.

So I know this is an old technical service bulletin, But I have just replaced the part with the new modified part and it makes a massive difference. Part Number is HGM500010 at a cost of £10.79+VAT

http://workshop-manuals.com/landrover/lr3_(la)/v8-4394cc_4.4l/body_and_frame/seats/seat_bottom/component_information/technical_service_bulletins/all_technical_service_bulletins_for_seat_bottom/tecla501011/dec/05/interior_seat_cushion_to_backrest_gap/

The new part HGM500010 has 2 locating pins that are simply missing on the original version. This keeps everything in the correct place, and so no gap! The hole they locate into has always been there!

Before:

Part Differences:

New part with Pin shown in red circle:

Old part with no pin in the red circle:

Locating hole shown in red square:

After:

You can see from the indentations on the side just how much the seat has moved now it is being held in place correctly at the front.

Finished picture showing the gap now closed. There is no movement anymore in the seat (before you could push it back and forth about an inch).

Mine's always had a gap although I've never felt it move. I wish I'd read this last week and I'd have added the revised bracket to my parts order to sort the failed heater element and foam.

Seeing as I don't have a big order to place at the moment, which in itself is unusual:

Could I just drill a hole through the existing bracket and add a 'pin' in the form of a bolt, or weld on a bit bit of rod?

Are there any markings or obvious ways of knowing where the pin should be?

Or wait until you are doing an order (as it’s not urgent) and spend the £12 on a new one? 😀
I would agree it’s worth saving money, but £12... that’s almost the cheapest LR part ever!

I'm not sure you understand the mentality of a Land Rover enthusiast! Wink

Rather more seriously, seeing as changing the bracket for a new one requires the same amount of work, other than drilling 2 holes or welding a bit of rod, neither of which are a particular chore, it seemed a reasonable approach.

I hoping (the mentality of a deluded Land Rover enthusiast!) that I won't have any large orders for some time, whereas I quite fancy sorting out the seat.

Well there are no markings so you could attach a pin using best guess from my pictures. The hole in the other side is already there.

Sorry for digging this up guys.

I did this modification last year and that bracket was still available but now impossible to get my hand on it. Even directly from land rover, discontinued.

Do you guys know where I can find one for my passenger seat please ?

Any help is welcome thank you !
