Driving on Continent - Headlamp Adjustment

Hi all, will shortly be taking the disco to the continent, what adaptions do i need to make the the headlights? Previosuly i have stuck the beam deflectors on my FL2 - is this still required with the D4 XS? [not xenons]

Thanks

Don't worry about it, I've done fair few euro trips & never been flashed with no change (xenons and halogens). Did get flashed a lot in Tunisa but that was coz the car behind was stuck on high beam. Rolling Eyes Whistle

Done loads of miles in France and I stick on the headlight beam adjusters just in case (police, insurance etc.). Not sure they do much as I left them on for ages once when I got home and never even noticed !

The d3 lights and the d4 lights are slightly different aren't they? Does it make a difference?

Don't think so unless the D4 non xenon beams are adjustable for driving on the right, the D3 ones aren't.

If you do need to fit the deflectors then they are universal with fitting instructions for all sorts of vehicles so should be fine. Pain in the A Censored to remove though !

All D4 type lights can be adjusted for Continental driving - it shows you how in the HANDBOOK.

Yes it is in the handbook but it's worth having a practice before hand - there are two lugs that need to be tugged upwards to release the headlamps so I tend to use a pair of grips to get hold of the (tiny) protuberances effectively!

Also... the bit that the handbook doesn't tell you is to be careful of where you put the grille whilst conducting surgery on your D4... the paint is actually as soft as plastecine, be careful...

It'll take you 10-15 mins tops - I do mine in the line to load for Eurotunnel with no problems.

Hope this helps.
