cheers for the heads up everyone, im going to try and persuade my daughter and her boyfriend to join me in a 6am set off,

6am Shocked

I would plan on arriving around that time! - any later and the A30 can be a car park.

Day time traffic over the past couple of weeks has been unusually lighter than in previous years but the A30 has had long delays at peak times with hours of queuing.

Driver go to bed 10 ish and get up at 2 to put family in car, they soon go back to sleep.

Hammer it , legally obviously Whistle, and get to e.g. Newquay by 7. Then, in our case, have to wait an hour for hotel to open. Laughing

I'd be asking myself ......is it really worth it?

For me, I'm happy enough just getting outdoors, even if it's just an hour or so away.
Can't be *rsed with all the hassle of travelling great distances in heavy traffic to overcrowded destinations.

But, if you must ....... enjoy. Thumbs Up

What will be will be... cant persuade the others to get out of bed so 6am start it is and hope for the best. Don't really have a choice now.

@RonP - we were meant to be flying to Santorini next Tuesday for my sons wedding but I really didn't fancy 10 hours wearing a mask through airports including 4-5 hours in a metal tube with god knows how many others. Ive had to keep the holidays from work due to company policy, my house is all boxed up ready for a house move so tbh I would rather be away from all that stress and sit in my air conditioned box.

Might even take a few DVD to watch while im parked on the M5/A30 Laughing

on that note can I play movies through an external USB hard drive in the D4 ?

Thanks Rog - will keep a look out for the bashed up motors on the verges Whistle

I really dont like heading south on the M5 on any summer saturday, but heyho, if I have to sit in trafiic for a while so be it, as when towing, if the speed drops to, say 40, then thats only 20mph less than I'd be doing with the tintent on the back anyway so no great shakes as long as it doesnt go on too long) - for me its probably going to be around brizzle down to weston but I'm only down to J25, then on down to (hopefully) sunny Dorset (as those cornish lot are too grumpy Laughing )

Have a nice hols folks

Al

At least your beach is looking a bit nearer than the beach at Loch Morlich this morning. Peeps that have been there say just don’t go, it’s insanity.
