Just back from the 1st offroad weekend with the 265/70/17 KL71's. They work a treat, felt a bit slippery on road driving 90km out to the site, but driving back home (broken in, and all release agent gone?) they felt good, despite wet conditions.
Where they belong (off road), they felt very good, naturally better than my "regular" tyre, which are Cooper ATR (LT) in the same size. I'll do more of a post soon, with some shots of the tyres, plus the slit in the inner guard that Bushwander described perfectly. Interestingly, the brand new, nobby KL's did not touch any more or less than the Coopers. I would also say that the contact only occurs in extreame situations (it's never happed to me in highspeed situations, always serious offroad), this is a minor and very occasional rub, so I think the use of the word "damage" is misleading and not appropriate.
They are bloody heavy tyres - I weighed a carcass only, it ws 25.6kg. A 2/3rd worn inherited 245/70/17 (Cooper ATR, but passanger, not LT) weighed 15.4kg...
When I swap the wheels next weekend I will weight the complete KL71+wheel vs the identical sized, LT Cooper and report back. I know that when I moved onto the 17inch wheels and Coopers my unsprung weight reduced compared to the std 18's, but these Kumhos are nicely massive and shift the balance subtly the other weigh (oops...)

Have decided to opt for a 255/70/17 AT2 as they are ever so slightly smaller and I am hoping they will not rub at all as a result.
Will report once fitted and tested.

Yes it is (and, by the way, it is a bearded dragon - although I don't blame you for not recognising it in my avatar). The Bearded Dragon

17" tyres
I am thinking of fitting the new Goodyear Wrangler MTR's with Kevlar in 265 x 70 x 17 on to a 2009 TDV6 SE.
