I have read here about a broken wire etc. Hopefully this will be the case. The garage which towed the car had no time for 5 days to even Look for the broken wire I was hinting at. No, it is a dead starter….no discussion at all. WELCOME to France where I am stuck.

After 320.000 km it seems to be time to get divorced from LR. Too many issues, and costly.

I hope to get things sorted quickly and be on my way back to Germany.

If someone has additional hints beyond the info on here, please share them.

Bad earth strap, or battery, or both!

Clear the codes place a decent jump lead from the battery negative terminal to a strong metal part on the engine and see if that helps. Thumbs Up

Spot on, it was an earth strap, which one I do not know. But the garage in Soulac sur Mer was totally wrong pointing towards a dead starter.

Its likely to be one of the heavy straps, either the one from the body to the transfer case or more likely the one from the r/h/f suspension turret to the engine mount.
