I bought the car in May 2005, and it came with the 12.

You can get updated disks for only some models at NAVTEQ, but not for our D3 Crying or Very sad
http://www.navteq.com/updates/updates.html

You're sent back to the dealer at DENSO as well...

Old topic but does anyone know if the new versions of the disc are available yet?

Do any new owners know what the versions are?

I'd like to know too. My road isn't on the current disk - mind you, the estate was only built 12 years ago. Confused

Looking at the navtec site I found this for a disco 2 upgrade.

1. Western Europe
Version 2005-1
20 European countries in one package
CD € 250

can anyone tell me if I can put in a speed camera as a POI in the d3 sat nav system - when I go past one 8)

Sure, just stop in front of the camera, work your way through the menus, save the location and add a nice little icon Twisted Evil

Yesterday I learned that there's a version 13. But the LR guy told me it wasn't much better than the previous one, at least for our area.

Why don't Google, Michelin or some other 3rd party come up with this kind of service? A downloadable subscription would be great, so we could burn our own DVDs with monthly updates.

Adding speed camera POIs to satnav DVD

the BMW sat nav DVD has been hacked sucessfullly to add speed camera locations to a back up copy of the 2007 disc.I am not sure if the BMW disc is a navteq product or if the landrover system uses the same code
here is the URL if anyone is interested. Are there any computer experts out there who can help!

There is a new satnav disk available - see this thread http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic13730.html?highlight=dvd. Ordered mine yesterday from Nick at Yeovil Land Rover!
Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills Smile

BMW system is completely different, and was last used on the FFRR up to the end of 04MY I think. FFRR owners with the old BMW system can actually upgrade to the newer nav computer/bluetooth/etc systems though.

speed camera dvd

Obviously the BMW disc will not work in the Disco but the method used by the BMW owners to insert the computer code for the speed camera locations into the dvd software could potentially be used to modify the Landrover/Navtec DVD in the same way.
What they did was to copy the Navigation disc onto the hard drive of a PC, then insert several lines of code creating a new point of interest catagory ( speed camera) together with an appropriate symbol and then inserted all the pocket GPS speed camera sites as POIs in this catagory.
They then made a DVD copy of the modified database and apparently it works as the normal system plus the added speed camera locations, a bit like the aftermarket products from Garminand TOMTOM.
If anyone out there has the software programing skills to do this I am sure we would all be very grateful

I know that in theory it should be possible, but my point was that the systems are totally different - the contents, layout and files on the bmw disc don't resemble the LR dvd at all, so the bmw method doesn't help with the LR dvd.

thanks, perhaps the best bet is for we consumers to persuade navteq that it would be worth their while issuing a disc with the fixed camera locations .After all it can't be illegal, most road atlases and stand alone sat nav systems provide this information.
In the meantime I hope somone out there reading this has a crack at the navteq disc, if the BMW owners can do it.....

not much point realy as the camera database updates more than once a year !!!

I have looked into adding speed cameras on various sat nav disks ....unfortunatly most use KWI files which you can open without specialist software , let alone modify
 G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
