I have notice of the last few weeks I occasionally select reverse instead of first - this gives me a bit of a fright.
I was having a mess this afternoon and I am sure when I had the D3 I had to push down hard before getting reverse, now there no catch/safety, I just more the stick to the left of first and push up and it goes in.
Anyone had similar - do I need to get it fixed?

Hi Shiny
Also have a manual and it needs a difinite push to the left to select reverse. Doubt if you could select it by mistake with normal gear change due to pressure required between first and reverse

Its a type of small book that tells you about stuff. Autos and Manuals both have a manual.Cheers

Done this a couple of times myself and SWMBO done it a few times too. After a bit of analysis it happens when trying to shift to first too quickly from reverese and not letting the gear stick fully centre before selecting first. Only done it a couple of times in two years and now just take that fraction of a second longer to let the gear stick get back to its neutral position before putting in first. Never had this at any other time so if this is not the same scenario then maybe you have a problem. Hope this helps.

If you take it out of first into neutral enough times trying to find reverse like SWMBO on the day we collected it you can get a "no EPB auto-release available" message as it gets REALLY confused!

Hi SM,
To answer the other part of your post, you do NOT push the gearstick down before engaging reverse.

I fitted a set of reverse parking sensors off ebay (£20) and now every time I select reverse I get a very very loud BEEEEEP. Thats one way of knowing if you are in reverse.
